HomeBirds - Share Your Story!

Golden Ireland is delighted to welcome back our popular HomeBirds Writing Competition for one last hurrah! We were heartened to receive so many honest and inspiring entries from our previous competition. Representing an array of emotions and experiences reflective of the times we now live in, your stories represent a snapshot in time of an extraordinary period of history.

Writing can be a form of therapy, and we hope that by sharing your stories you can bring a little bit of happiness, encouragement and positivity to those who may be finding it difficult, or who may feel lonely and isolated at this time.

Our competition is entitled "HomeBirds - Share Your Story" and we invite you to share your stories/poems/letters of living through these strange times - what gives you hope, ideas to make the most of every day and your plans/dreams for the future when the crisis is over. The choice is yours.

We are delighted to welcome back well known author, Felicity Hayes-McCoy and her husband Wilf Judd, as our esteemed judges of the HomeBirds competition. Felicity is the Irish author of the successful 'Finfarran' novels, published by Hachette Books Irl. and, in the US and Canada, by Harper Collins, and she and Wilf work together on media projects and travel books.

We would also like to thank the lovely Celtic Ross Hotel for sponsoring a great prize of a voucher for two nights B&B (midweek) to include dinner for two on one evening. The voucher is valid for one year. WIN a chance to escape to Ireland’s southern stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way. Located in the charming West Cork cathedral town of Rosscarbery, the family owned Celtic Ross Hotel is the perfect base to explore all the region has to offer and you will experience the legendary West Cork hospitality. Nestled on the coast, the Celtic Ross offers convenient access to some of Ireland’s best beaches, West Cork’s historical sights or just to completely unwind by the sea, there is something to suit everyone.
