Depression

I have been out of work for three months now with depression.  I am terrified to go back as I have a very stressful job.  I am thinking of taking early retirement.  I am 60.  But I would get a very small retirement pension.  I dont know how I would live.  Has anyone any advise please?

Hi Eileen
I am sorry to hear about your situation - it does sound very stressful. As a former manager in a small company, I might suggest that you that you talk to your employer? I don't know if this could be an option or not but sometimes it helps to talk out about a job situation if you are finding it stressful - your manager may be more sympathetic than you think. Alternatively you may have a Human Resources Manager that could offer an independent viewpoint. Some companies may even organise stress management training for employees - it might be worth discussing. Hope this helps in some way. Kind regards, Kathryn.

Thank you so much for replying Kathryn.  I noted all of your helpful suggestions.  Unfortunately, I have tried to talk to my managers, but found them very unhelpful.  I am seriously thinking of retiring as I have great peace of mind at home.  But I cant live on love!!

Kind regards,

Eileen
