I'm new enough to the internet but am enjoying the challenge!!

Just want to know if anybody knows of any sites where I can download music and films - legally and preferably free? Is it difficult to do and can anybody provide me with simple advice?

Thanks

Hi there

I've downloaded music for free from www.newmelodies.com

You have to pay for sites like iTunes and Napstar. I've also paid for downloading music from eclassical.com

Haven't downloaded books or films so would be interested to hear from other people too.

Hi There, I know it is a while since you wrote your query, but I hope you check in to read this. I was downloading music from Nokia.com for a long time and it was easy but then they made changes and I found it very difficult. However you might like to give try it. I am now downloading from a site called 7digital, its not as good as Nokia but its pretty ok. I hope this is a help. Good Luck!

Thanks Martina

I actually tried Nokia recently and like you I found it quite difficult - I gave up trying in fact. I will give 7digital a go and let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi, Glad to see you check back on the site so quickly. I look forward to hearing how you get on, and if you hear of any other good music sites I would really like to know. Bye for now.

Hi, I just succeeded in transferring music to my mobile phone...I am delighted. Had to buy a cable, and after a bit of hit & miss (mostly miss!) I had success. Its lovely to listen to music when out walking. I usually listen on my MP3 player, but, on days that I forget to bring that with me, it will now be great to be able to listen on my mobile. Cheers!

I would be really grateful if someone would suggest better sites for downloading music. I successfully downloaded from 7digital, but it got lost somewhere on the computer and I spent an absolute age moving it around before I could get it into my Real Player... So I would love to get a more straightforward way of doing it.

Thanks so much for that advice. I have only had time to have a quick look at these sites, but they look good and very straightforward. Thanks! I have a further question, when I go on these music sites and ask for The Beatles I only get cover albums, and compilation albums of people singing Beatles songs, Orchestras, etc. Why is this I wonder, and why can I not get an actual Beatles Album?

Hi Nimbles....Thanks so much for those great sites. I have opened them all and added them to my Favorites, but so far have only logged into the Don edrington site, where I spent 45 minutes listening to Floyd Kramer... I look forward to investigating the other sites and thanks again for the tip about grooveshark, it seems a really good site. You are a Gem!

hi martina glad you liked them plenty more out there just let me know if you want them eg upchucky

Hi Nimbles, I have not been back on the site because I have been spending all my time on the upchucky site, listening to music but also playing table tennis, etc. Its very funny because when you start to play Bowling they allow you to pick which colour shoes you want, and then to pick which colour ball....I bought speakers so that I could walk around the room while listening to music. However they are useless, they were cheap and I intend to buy better ones. (Any recommendations??).... I wish I had started to chat with you last Sept/Oct because I would have had all these great sites to discover and it would have been a great way to pass the time during all the snow & frost we had. I am really enjoying the sites. Thanks again for all your tips, they are great and very much appreciated.

Hi Nimbles, Those two music sites look really good. I am looking forward to spending time finding my way around them. I saw speakers on special offer so I got them (Creative Inspire). They have made a huge difference to listening to the music. The Gutenberg site is really interesting, I reckon I will be reading books that I would never have thought of reading before. Thank You!
