Singles Events/Holidays

Good evening

I have been a widow for the past 12 years and don't always feel comfortable with other couples. I mix with other widows which is great but it would be nice to have a male companion to go to weddings etc. Does anybody know of any single's events taking place in Ireland or if anybody has ever been on a single's holiday, what is it like?

Thanks

Twinky

Hi Twinky

I've never been on a singles holidays but a friend of mine went as part of a group to Lake Garda recently and had a great time. She booked it through the Travel Department who organise solo friendly holidays. Hope this helps, Margaret.

Hi Twinky

You could consider joining your local Active Retirement Association. There are more than 400 of them around the country - many people are widows or widowers and everybody is very friendly.

Hi Twinky

The UK company organise Singles Holidays for over 55's. Came across something on their discussion forum recently. Try going to www.saga.co.uk and look under Travel.

Good luck

Kathryn

Just a thought, Twinky but have you considered a dating agency? I know it's a minefield but there must be something out there for older people. Good luck anyhow

I travel by myself quite a bit. I find wine tasting trips or cookery courses a great way to meet people and you also learn something!

Things like guided walks are great as well, if you were into that!

For me the worst part is eating out alone in restaurants but on the plus side when you travel alone you can go and do as you please.

Hope this helps.

Fiona

Are there any other single ladies out there who despite having lots of friends & family have no one to go on holiday with? I either know couples or people with young children who cant get away on holidays with me. I love to travel, am pretty easy going and have a young outlook on life. Any like minded people please get in touch with me. maymay47

Littlewren, and Maymay Littlewren, Can you post details of your over 50's club in Dublin. I am a widow and would be very interested in joining. I cant seem to find anything for young minded over 50's. Maymay, I know exactly what you mean and would be very interested in getting in touch if you want to.

Hi all I have been on holiday with the travel department for the past five years, Escorted Trips, so well organised and lots of single people thoroughly enjoyed myself and hope to go again this year.
