Underactive Thyroid

I have just been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid but waiting for more blood test results before starting on medication (thyarozine) I understand it can take a long time to get levels 'normal' again but wondered if anyone has had similar treatment? I feel quite unwell and tired most of the time. I'm hoping that the medication will make me feel better as I have no energy to do anything. Regards Breeda

Hi Breeda

You should try not to worry too much about this as it a common problem. I have had it for many years and some of my friends also have it. You do feel very tired but the thyroxine will help. The dosage is determined by your blood results. You will need to get blood taken every few months as levels can go up and down. Hope you feel some improvement soon.

Yours
