Does anyone suffer from this? I was diagnosed with it 5 years ago but have only had 3 really bad flare ups which were treated with steroid injections. It is palindromic at the moment which means my joints are not being damaged. I have pains everyday in my joints but am grateful it doesn't affect my life too much though I have to take life a bit easier than before. If anybody has any tips or advice, would appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi Maryanne
I sympathise with you as I too am a fellow sufferer! Unfortunately there is no cure for RA, however, more and more treatments are being developed. Mine comes and goes and I find that regular exercise, eating healthily and using deep breathing to be helpful.

Prior to being diagnosed to having RA I used to ache in the legs..at the time I just put it down to working around the house..gradually it then spread to my arms and the ache became a pain..then my hands started swelling up very badly..by this time I had diffulculty in moving..a major exercise just getting in and out of bed....Couldnt drive the car as no grip in my hands..since being on the medication that was prescribed Ive now got my mobility back..the pains gone but still ache a little and my body feels tender ..no swellings in the hands..If I overdo things in the garden I soon know about it.

Hi
I use glucosamine sulphate as a supplement. It is supposed to help to rebuild some of the lost cartilage in bones. It takes time, however, and you should be taking the supplement for 3 months or longer before you notice any real benefit. I've also heard that manuka honey is good though it is very expensive (about €8 a jar). It's supposed to reduce inflamation. Good luck.
