Home Energy Savings Scheme

   


 

The Home Energy Savings Scheme provides grants to certain homeowners to improve the energy efficiency of their home. The scheme is administered by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI).

 

All homeowners of dwellings built before 2006 may apply. Landlords and owners of more than one property may also apply. You can get a grant for the following energy saving work:

 

·      Roof insulation.

·      Wall insulation, e.g. cavity wall, internal dry lining or external insulation.

·      Replacement of a high efficiency gas or oil fired boiler (more than 90% efficiency) including a heating controls upgrade.

·      Heating Controls Upgrade.

·      Building Energy Rating (BER) – if a BER is done before and after the works are completed.

Rules


To qualify for a grant you must:

·      Be the owner of a dwelling built before 2006.

·      Use a contractor from Sustainable Energy Ireland’s registerd list.

·      Use a BER assessor from SEI’s registerd list if you are getting a BER.

·      Apply for a minimum amount of €500 with your first application. You can apply for a number of grants under the scheme to reach the €500 minimum application amount but a BER grant cannot form part of this amount.

·      Applicants must ensure that grant approval is received before proceeding with any product purchase or installation work.

·      Homeowners availaing of the BER grant may undertake the Before BER ahead of grant approval being in place.
