The Old Library and the Book of Kells exhibition is a “must see” on the itinerary of most visitors to Dublin. On display is the 9th century Gospel manuscript – the Book of Kells. The exhibition “Turning Darkness into Light” explains the background to the Book of Kells and also other related manuscripts such as the Book of Durrow and the Book of Armagh. Visitors also view the magnificent Long Room filled with 200,000 of the Library’s oldest books in oak bookcases.

The Summer exhibition in the Long Room is - Nabobs, Soldiers and Imperial Service: the Irish in India – which is on display until 3rd October 2010 – entrance to this exhibition is included in the admission to the Old Library and the Book of Kells exhibition.
