Ireland’s West is waiting for you!

The Ireland West region encompasses the counties of Galway, Mayo, Clare and Limerick.

Any visitor to the West will find it is more than just a region. It is a unique experience which will leave you with many wonderful memories of your holiday here.

Galway

Eyes light up and stories flow when anyone mentions Galway, a county defined by its untamed scenery, traditional culture and legendary nightlife. It's a region that holds a very special place in the hearts of anyone who has visited, many returning to rediscover the wild Atlantic coast with its deserted sweeps of golden sand, to hike the craggy mountains, windswept bogs and deserted valleys of Connemara, to fish and golf on some of the most spectacular lakes and links on the island, and to join in the good life at the county's varied festivals. Young, colourful and cosmopolitan yet steeped in history, Galway City is a vibrant place that has become a magnet for artists, musicians, writers and students. Galway just oozes energy; walking through the colourful pedestrian streets of the city centre, past the quirky shops, bustling restaurants and ever-present buskers, the buzz is unmistakable.

Mayo

Jutting proudly into the Atlantic Ocean, Mayo is a land steeped in history, shaped by its rugged landscape, warmed by its jovial people and loved by all those who visit here. Magnificently beautiful County Mayo is one of the least developed and most sparsely populated counties in Ireland offering the visitor the chance to escape the crowds and experience the dramatic beauty and unhurried pace of life of Ireland's West. This is prime territory for history buffs, walkers, anglers and golfers - the undulating hills, untamed coast and meandering rivers providing evocative backdrops for some of the most engaging historic sites, challenging hikes and prize fishing in the country.

Clare

A county of startling beauty, Clare has it all. From the Cliffs of Moher, a 214m testament to Mother Nature’s creativity, to the Burren, an otherworldly limestone landscape, this is a county where beauty and history meet. A holiday heaven, this county allows you to indulge in everything from walking to surfing to relaxing spa treatments.

Limerick

From the diversity of its breathtaking landscapes and spectacular coastline, to the mystical charms of its ancient past and its picturesque towns and villages full of character, County Limerick is full of colour and charm. Limerick city, which has a charter older than that of London, is a vibrant, bustling metropolis that continuously reinvents itself, pleasantly surprising the visitor each time they stay. From the medieval quarter at King’s Island with its castle, cathedral and museum, to the elegant splendour of the Georgian new town, Limerick is brimful of delightful historical and architectural surprises.
