Croagh Patrick Climb:

8km (5 miles) west of Westport on the Louisburgh Road (R335), Croagh Patrick (pronounced Croke Patrick) stands at 764m (2,507ft) and is the third highest peak in Mayo, after Mweelrea and Nephin. Best known for its association with Saint Patrick, Ireland’s patron saint, who is said to have fasted for 40 days at the summit in 441AD, Croagh Patrick has been a pilgrimage destination since pre-Christian times. The walk  to the summit will begin at the west end of Murrisk on the Louisburgh Road (R335) at the signposted carpark. The route is 7km (4.3 miles) long, round-trip; bring sturdy boots, rain-gear and layers, as the temperature can be much lower at the top, and the wind can be quite strong.

Duration 5 hours, with Croagh Patrick Walking Tours.

Museum of Country Life, Castlebar, Co Mayo

Set in modern exhibitions and galleries in the spectacular grounds of Turlough Park House and surrounded by magnificent gardens and artificial lake (known as a Turlough in Irish), visitors are invited to experience traditions of rural life throughout Ireland from 1850-1950, in the award-winning Museum of Country Life.

Includes Coach Transfer to and from Westport with Golden Ireland Guide.

Clew Bay Cruise

No visit to Westport, or Mayo would be complete without a cruise on Clew Bay. The bay is home to a thriving seal colony, beautiful secluded beaches, breathtaking views of Croagh Patrick, Murrisk Abbey and Bertraw Beach (with it's untouched sand dunes). You'll enjoy sailing past the many sheltered islands, Inishgort Lighthouse and finish our cruise a few meters from the shore of Dorinish Island; on which John Lennon stayed and owned. Clewbay’s onboard commentary will guide you through the history of Clew Bay, from battles to tragedies, from the Ice Age to modern day. With complimentary binoculars available onboard, no sight will be far from your eyes reach.

18th Century Lords & Ladies Experience, Westport House

Westport House is undoubtedly one of Ireland's best loved heritage attractions - and is rightly called one of the most beautiful houses in Ireland.

With over 30 rooms on show, visitors can immerse themselves in life as far back as the 16th century when Grace O'Malley,  the Pirate Queen of Connacht ruled the land and seas around the estate. Built upon the foundations of one of her many castles which can still be toured in the dungeons today, the original Westport House was built in 1650 by Colonel John Browne and his wife Maud Burke, Grace O’Malley’s great-great-granddaughter.

You will be treated to a 30 minute guided tour of the stunning house followed by a sumptuous afternoon tea served in the Drawing Room - an experience not to be missed!
